WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA -- Dole Packaged Foods reports that it now offers 24 fruit snack options that not only qualify as U.S. Department of Agriculture Smart Snacks for schools, but also meet the National Automatic Merchandising Association's Fit Pick requirements for "healthy" vending items.
According to the company, the following products conform to both sets of guidelines: Fruit Bowls in 4.2-oz. vending packs and 7-oz. servings; E-Z Open Fruit; Fruit Squish'ems; and Mrs. May's line of dried fruit and nut mixes and bars.
In vending and other grab-and-go environments, customers can reach for Dole Fruit Squish'ems, 100% natural fruit in handheld squeezable pouches, or vend-size Fruit Bowls, with 100% fruit juice and an included fork. Snackers of all ages will be tempted by a selection of fruit and nut-filled Mrs. May's Naturals, Dole added.
In a quick-service location, nutrition-conscious customers can opt for Dole Fruit Bowls, offered in six fruit varieties in both 4-oz. and 7-oz. foodservice sizes. An operation with a kitchen can customize breakfast menus by fortifying oatmeal with cottage cheese and Dole Chef-Ready fruit purées.
For full-service operators, the Dole Foodservice Recipe Database offers an array of "fruit-forward" breakfast dishes. These include "power smoothies," baked goods, breakfast burritos, fruit compotes, and fruit sauces and toppings for waffles and pancakes using Dole's frozen fruits, Chef-Ready Cuts and Chef-Ready Purées.
