MELROSE PARK, IL -- Ford Motor Co. (Dearborn, MI) previewed its brand-new 2015 Mustang on Dec. 5. The sixth-generation Mustang will go on sale next fall, marking the 50th anniversary of the landmark design.

Stern Pinball Inc. marked the festive occasion by announcing development of the Mustang pinball machine in cooperation with Ford. The Mustang flipper also will debut in 2014.

"The Mustang is one of the most iconic, American cars ever made," said Gary Stern, chairman and chief executive oft he Melrose Park, IL-based pinball factory. "What better way to celebrate 50 years of Mustang than with the launch of the Ford Mustang pinball game?"

Ford Global Brand Licensing's Mark Bentley added, "Ford Motor Co. is extremely excited to partner with Stern Pinball on this state-of-the-art Mustang pinball machine. Both Stern and Ford are proud American companies with industry-leading, iconic brands. Pinball aficionados around the globe will appreciate the unique blend of Mustang heritage and Stern craftsmanship in this fantastic machine."

According to Stern, the Mustang pinball machine will put the player in the driver's seat of one of the hottest cars on the street. The game's soundtrack is narrated by pro racing driver Tanner Foust, setting the tone for a fast-paced white-knuckle game. Top-of-the-line features include artwork painted by famed Ford GT designer Camilo Pardo and the "ultimate soundtrack," incorporating five decades of hits from Sony Music.

Car themes have been favorites for almost as long as there have been pinball machines. Victory (1987-Gottlieb Premier), Car Hop (1990-Gottlieb Premier), Indy 500 (1995-Williams/Midway) and Corvette (1994-Bally) are among the best known. Williams' High Speed (1986) was so successful, a sequel was produced, The Getaway-High Speed II (1992), which challenged players to shift gears in a pinball setting.
