Keurig And Coke Expand Partnership To Hot Brewers, Launch Honest Tea K-Cups

WATERBURY, VT -- Keurig Green Mountain Inc. and The Coca Cola Co. have extended their partnership beyond development of the much-anticipated Keurig Cold brewer to bring Coke’s still brands to Keurig’s hot brewing system in the U.S. and Canada.

Honest Tea will be the first Coke brand offered in K-Cups, launching on keurig.com beginning Sept. 4.

The Honest Tea portion packs will initially be offered in unsweetened Fair Trade Certified Just Green and Just Black iced teas. They join Keurig's current line of K-Cups that are specially crafted to be brewed hot over ice. Founded in 1998, Honest Tea was the first brand to launch organic bottled tea and fair trade bottled tea.

"There is growing consumer demand for beverage variety and functionality," said Deryck Van Rensburg, president of Coca Cola/Keurig Ventures. "Offering people more of the brands they love in the popular Keurig hot brewing system is a natural extension of our strategic partnership while development of our sparkling and still brands for the innovative Keurig Cold at-home system continues."

In February, Keurig and Coke signed a 10-year agreement to collaborate on the development and introduction of Coke’s global brand portfolio for use in the Keurig Cold at-home beverage system, set to hit the market in 2015. As part of that agreement, Coca-Cola acquired a 10% minority equity stake in Keurig and later announced its intention to increase its stake up to 16%. | READ MORE
