ATLANTIC CITY, NJ -- The Tri-State Automatic Merchandising Council's annual membership meeting drew a record number of industry members from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware for business meetings, a mini trade show, golf and networking. The event was held June 12-14 at the Showboat Atlantic City Hotel and Casino.
During the meeting, the Tri-State Automatic Merchandising Council elected its slate of officers and board members for the coming year. Susan McManus of Vistar was reelected president, as were vice-president Elliot Teitelbaum, Elliot's Vending (Huntingdon Valley, PA); secretary J. Scott Bidding, DeMitri Chesapeake Sales (Palmyra, PA); and treasurer Jeff West Jr. West Dairy (Parker Ford, PA).
Nicolas Gacos of Colorado Café Associates (Metuchen, NJ) and Rick Ruth, Mars Chocolate North America, were elected to the Tri-State Board of Directors.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2013 Harry Mowery Award to Andy Calhoun of Canteen Vending Service (Middletown, PA), chosen for exemplifying Mowery's passion, energy and love for the vending industry.
Tri-State also awarded the John Boyle Memorial Scholarship to Mike Kelley of Quality Brokerage (Turnersville, NJ), to attend NAMA's Executive Development Program at Michigan State University.
The Tri-State's business program included a state of the industry report from National Automatic Merchandising Association president and chief executive Carla Balakgie. The Tri-State president updated members on the issues facing the vending and coffee industry in the three states the association represents.
A new product showcase provided operators a first look at the latest vending and OCS technology and products and a chance to meet with suppliers, brokers and manufacturers. A welcome reception, dinner banquet and golf outing rounded out the festivities.
