READING, MA -- The National Sanitation Foundation has certified Keurig K150 commercial brewers for use in foodservice locations. It's the first small- to medium-capacity brewer from Keurig to receive NSF certification for foodservice.
Single-cup brewers simplify foodservice operation by alleviating the need for separate pots or urns of coffee for regular, decaffeinated and flavored varieties. The K150 features an interactive touchscreen that allows users to program the brew temperature and set the language preference to English, Spanish or French. It offers choice of five cup sizes and features removable drip tray to accommodate travel mugs.
The Keurig B3000SE commercial brewer is also certified for foodservice use, but is intended for large-capacity outlets.
NSF International is an accredited, third party organization that tests and certifies products to verify that they meet public health and safety standards intended for commercial foodservice.
"Becoming NSF-certified is an important step in our focus on the foodservice industry, a key growth channel for our away-from-home business," said Brian P. Kelley, president and chief executive Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc., which owns Keurig. He estimated that foodservice represents approximately 65% of coffee purchases outside the home.
