Phyllis O'Reilly, Alouette Amusement MONTREAL -- Félicitas (Phyllis) O'Reilly of Alouette Amusement Canada Inc. died on Feb. 3 after a long battle with cancer. She was 77.

O'Reilly was born in Hamburg, Germany, and in 1954 at age 18 immigrated to Montreal, where she soon met her husband and business partner Gerald O'Reilly. The O'Reillys founded Alouette Amusement, a distributor and operator of coin-operated amusements and jukeboxes, in 1956. Phyllis was active in operations until she became ill.

The Canadian businesswoman was well known in the music and games industry around the world. "Our hearts are heavy with the passing of this amazing woman," said David Cohen, president and chief executive of Norwood, MA-based Firestone Financial Corp., one of North America's largest lenders to vending operators. "Not only was Alouette Amusement one of our first customers, [it has] been with us for over 45 years. We will all miss her."

Firestone vice-president Scott Cooper added, "Mrs. O'Reilly was one of the most capable business partners I have had the pleasure of knowing. She was dedicated to her family, friends and company."

In addition to her husband, Phyllis O'Reilly is survived by her children Kevin, Tim, Terry, Karen and Connie, their spouses and 14 grandchildren.

Donations in honor of Phyllis O'Reilly's memory may be made to the West Island Palliative Care Residence, 265 André Brunet Kirkland, QC, Canada, H9H 3R4.
