myTouchTunes Phone App 2

NEW YORK CITY -- The new myTouchTunes Mobile release brings the most popular app for jukeboxes up to date. The app unites smartphones with jukeboxes from TouchTunes Interactive Networks, and is available for iPhone and Android devices.

Released in early April, myTouchTunes Mobile 2.0 adds several new features and enhances basic functions, which allow users to find TouchTunes locations, create custom playlists, browse music and play songs on any mobile-enabled TouchTunes jukeboxes. It boasts an all-new user interface, enhanced social interaction, more rewards and new gamification features.

Here are some 2.0 highlights:

SmartSearch technology allows users to search by artist and song to quickly find music. They can also import music and playlists from their mobile devices into their myTouchTunes collections. The result, TouchTunes said, is a richer music experience.

Users can now view, comment and "like" their friends' activities, including check-ins and plays, creating a more social experience. Version 2.0 now makes it easier to share plays and "check in" to different areas with myTouchTunes friends, along with friends on Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.

One of the recent trends in mobile applications has been the "gamification" of content, which literally means to add competitive or play mechanics and context to various items. MyTouchTunes not only offers new rewards, it also "gamifies" them. For instance, users earn digital status pins and free credits as they play more TouchTunes music and rise through the ranks from Front Row to World Tour VIP. They also compete to earn House DJ status for having the most check-ins at TouchTunes locations and can collect more digital pins for other achievements.

Version 2.0 also simplifies credit management and payment. Users can keep track of locations where they have unused TouchTunes credits. They can also redeem promotional codes for free credits.

"TouchTunes continues to innovate in the social and mobile arena and is constantly working to enhance our customers' in-venue experience," said TouchTunes president and chief executive Charles Goldstuck. "We believe that the latest version of the myTouchTunes mobile app will continue its stellar growth and increase consumer engagement and music play across our network."

Montreal-based Oneapp, an early iOS development company, known worldwide for Pull This Finger and other edgy apps, worked with TouchTunes on the mobile portion of MyTouchTunes.

The mobile phone application is part of the larger myTouchTunes social brand, a Web-based program that allows consumers to create jukebox-user profiles that can be accessed online, on phones or in locations at jukeboxes. It went live in August 2010, and the allied phone app launched a year ago.

TouchTunes did not say how many apps have been downloaded to date, but it expects to approach 1 million by year-end. The company currently administers about 53,000 boxes on its network, and an estimated 35% to 40% of those are new enough to support myTouchTunes services. If myTouchTunes stays on course, the mobile initiative, a key part of the jukebox company's consumer strategy, could generate $1 million in weekly incremental revenue by the end of 2012.
