Beer Vending Machine Debuts At Minnesota's Target Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twin's Target Field is the first Major League Baseball stadium that lets fans purchase their beer through a vending machine.

The DraftServ machine, a partnership between concessionaire Delaware North and Anheuser-Busch, dispenses four types of beer. Customers are charged by the ounce.

Patrons must first visit a manned register and show their ID in order to purchase a $10, $20, or $50 prepaid debit card. They can then scan the card at the machine and choose drinks ranging in price from 38¢ per fl.oz. for Bud Light to 40¢ per fl.oz. for a pale ale.

Patrons can only use their cards to pour up to 48 ounces every 15 minutes. An employee is stationed at the machine to check IDs and intervene if a person appears to be intoxicated.
