NORTHFIELD, IL -- Kraft Foodservice is readying the rollout of its second General Foods International limited-time soluble gourmet beverage, English Raspberry Tea. Said to blend the taste of sweet raspberries and tea in a creamy café-style beverage, it will debut on July 1.
Formulated for sale through countertop soluble beverage dispensers, the new tea latte follows GFI S'mores Cappuccino, introduced this spring, in Kraft's seasonal specialty beverage assortment. There are four flavors in all, each supplied in 2-lb. bags packed six per case and alternating with the seasons. Rounding out the line is White Chocolate Caramel, available all year round.
Kraft pointed out that the growing specialty tea and tea latte trend presents an opportunity for operators. The company cites consumer-goods market research firm Packaged Facts' finding that domestic tea sales at restaurants, grocery stores and shops reached $15.7 billion last year, an increase of almost 32% over 2007 figures.
The GFI café-style beverage program includes a variety of merchandising aids, from point-of-sale aids like door clings and "wobblers" to flavor tags, counter cards and translite stickers. Available serving equipment includes cappuccino-mix dispensers by Bunn and Wilbur Curtis.
