BRUSSELS, Belgium -- The membership of the European Vending Association held elections and endorsed a new, wider strategic scope for the organization at its annual general membership meeting here. The theme of the meeting was "shaping the EVA's goals for the next three years."
The group's leadership recommended initiatives to help EVA better adapt to trends, attract members and gain more influence with European institutions. The overall object is to broaden the association's footprint.
The membership approved the new strategy and amendments to its statutes. Among other changes, the amended bylaws call for a 15-member executive committee, and the adoption of the more comprehensive tagline "EVA: Coffee Service and Vending Solutions." More than 75% of members voted in favor.
The membership elected Selecta group sales and marketing director Jan-Marck Vrijlandt as EVA's new president. He succeeds Arnaud van Amerongen, manager director of Aequator AG, who has served for six years.
The EVA executive committee includes delegates from eight membership categories. Representing national associations are Gillian White from the United Kingdom's Automatic Vending Association; Hubert Boyer of France's NAVSA (Syndicat Nationale de Vente et Services Automatiques), Robert Hausleitner for the German operators' association BDV (Bundesverband der Deutschen Vending-Automatenwirtschaft) and Lucio Pinetti of Italy's CONFIDA (Associazione [originally Confederazione] Italiana Distri-buzione Automatica).
Representing national association managing directors is Boris Belotserkovsky, the Russian National Vending Association.
Representing the manufacturers affiliated with the European Vending Machine Manufacturers Association is Paolo Ghidotti of N&W Global Vending. The supplier segment is represented by Paul Theobald of MEI for payment systems, and Hugh Hose of Nestlé for ingredients.
Committee members from the operator segment now include Michal Piotrowiak of Mastercup, for Eastern Europe; ASM's Michael Maurer, for northern Europe; Xavier Arquerons, Alliance Vending, for southern Europe; and new EVA president Jan-Marck Vrijland of Selecta, for international operations.

The meeting's workshop was devoted to trends that will help shape the industry over the next three years. Participants engaged in eight roundtable sessions exploring specific areas including "Premium Coffee Service: an Opportunity," "The Future of Payment," and "Communicate More about Your Industry."
