CINCINNATI -- AdvancePierre Foods' classic patty melt has returned to its line of Pierre panini-style sandwiches and is now shipping nationwide.
Previously sold as a Pierre Grillers sandwich, the diner-style favorite features a flame-broiled beef patty topped with melted American cheese and sautéed onion strips. It's served on rye bread that is crisped after heating thanks to the manufacturer's proprietary microwave sleeve. It contains only 300 calories.
AdvancePierre convenience channels president Tony Schroder said sandwiches continue to grow in popularity.
