HONOLULU, HI -- Sweepstakes videogames seized from six arcades here last September are illegal gambling devices, U.S. District Judge Leslie E. Kobayashi said in a preliminary ruling.
The judge's ruling came in a 28-page written order on Feb. 28 denying motions by arcade owner PJY to issue a temporary restraining order and have police return the machines.
The case is on track to proceed to trial in federal court. Honolulu law enforcement has staged a series of raids on sweeps venues in recent months. | SEE STORY
