THOMASVILLE, GA -- Flowers Foods has promoted several of its top executives in line with its management succession plan.
Bradley K. Alexander has been named executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Flowers Foods. Alexander, 55, began his career with Flowers in 1981, most recently serving as president of Flowers Bakeries, the company's DSD segment, which represents 83% of sales.
The position of chief operating officer was previously held by Gene D. Lord, 67, who continues to serve as executive vice president, providing support for operations with a focus on the integration of assets acquired from Old HB Inc. (formerly Hostess Brands).
D. Keith Wheeler, 50, is stepping up to president of Flowers Bakeries. He began his career with Flowers in 1988 and most recently served as senior vice-president for the company's West Coast region. In his new role, Wheeler will provide direction for Flowers Bakeries' six DSD sales regions.
Thomas E. Wilson, 59, has been promoted from bakery president to succeed Wheeler as senior vice-president for the company's West Coast region. He began his career in 1979 and joined Flowers Foods in 2008.
