BOSTON -- A Fit Pick-themed vending machine showcasing single-serve fresh produce items played a starring role in the United Fresh Produce Pavilion at the recent 2014 School Nutrition Association Annual National Conference here.
Merchandised with individual packages of sliced apples, baby carrots, celery sticks, grapes and salads, the machine demonstrated an easy way for schools to meet the new Smart Snacks in Schools nutrition standards, which took effect July 1. | READ MORE
The Fit Pick machine on display at the school nutrition event was a collaboration between the United Fresh Produce Association and the National Automatic Merchandising Association.
Developed by Crane Co., the Fit Pick machine features the recently relaunched look and feel of the signature NAMA nutrition program bearing the same name. | SEE STORY
"Having the Fit Pick vending machine in our Fresh Produce Pavilion provides an excellent opportunity to show school foodservice directors an innovative way to make fresh produce part of their vending program," said UFPA vice-president Lorelei DiSogra.
