ALAMEDA, CA -- The Pacific Pinball Museum has launched an online fundraising campaign to finance relocation from its present address here to the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The museum is a nonprofit organization.

If the museum succeeds in raising the targeted $1.5 million by the end of September, its administrators hope to relocate in 2013 to a space currently occupied by an Exploratorium that is coming to the end of its lease. If the target is not reached by month's end, the window of opportunity for the Fine Arts Center will close and the Pacific Pinball Museum will apply any funds raised to move the museum to an alternative site.

Executive director Michael Schiess said the museum's collection of 90 games on display represent just a fraction of the 1,500 historic games that are in storage. Of these, about 500 are fully restored and ready for public presentation.

Donors to the campaign can receive posters, t-shirts, hats, museum memberships, passes and more as thank-you gifts.

The museum recently hosted the sixth annual edition of Pacific Pinball Expo, which it billed as "the world's largest pinball show." | SEE STORY
