WASHINGTON -- The American Beverage Association has named William M. Dermody Jr. vice-president of policy. He joins ABA from USA Today, where he was deputy managing editor for paper's World News department.
At ABA, Dermody, who lives in Virginia, will be responsible for managing issues and developing policy on a range of beverage industry topics, including environmental sustainability, health, science and taxes.
Dermody's journalism career spans more than three decades. Prior to joining USA Today, he served as a reporter and editor at The Associated Press; for a time he was national editor at AP's world headquarters in New York.
"William's extensive experience in covering and managing significant issues around the world will be a tremendous asset to the association," said ABA chief executive and president Susan Neely. "At a time when our industry is facing new challenges here and abroad, we look forward to having William onboard to help develop strong leadership policies that positively impact the communities we serve."
