Suspect Sought In Philadelphia Vending Machine Explosion

PHILADELPHIA -- Police and federal authorities are searching for a man who placed an explosive device in a soda vending machine on June 5 here. According to local news reports, the explosion occurred at 10:45 p.m. on the 6600 block of Montague St. in Philadelphia's Mayfair section. At the scene, authorities found the remnants of a cardboard tube among other evidence indicating that a homemade device caused the explosion.

Surveillance video of the incident showed the suspect to be a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue shorts with white stripes and dark-colored shoes. Anyone with information concerning the incident is being asked to contact local authorities at (215) 686-3153, (215) 686-3154 or (215) 686-8477 (TIPS).
