DEKALB, IL -- Star Worlds Arcade is hosting video-gamers and longtime members of Chicago's coin-op industry at a party here on Saturday, Aug. 25, to honor the legacy of Steve Kordek. Widely regarded as the man who transformed the pinball machine from a simple arcade game into a great American pastime, Kordek was 100 years old when he died in February. | SEE STORY

During his six decades in the coin machine industry, Kordek designed more than 100 pinball games for Genco, Williams and Bally.

Today's celebration will include an awards presentation recognizing Kordek's accomplishments. Twin Galaxies will unveil its Superstars of 2012 videogame trading cards honoring Kordek, along with other coin-op legends.

The event kicks off at 4 p.m. and run until the arcade closes. Refreshments will be served and visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy some coin-op action on Star Worlds' 45 arcade games.
