Website Promoting Game Featured Links To Gun Sales; EA Removes Them

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- Electronic Arts launched a website in October that linked its popular home videogame Medal of Honor Warfighter to manufacturers of guns, knives and other weapons used in the game, according to a story in New York Times.

The cross-promotion provides a link between fantasy violence and real-life violence that some industry members may find uncomfortable in the wake of the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The gunman, Adam Lanza, has been widely described as an obsessive player of shooting videogames, although no evidence for this claim has been produced. | SEE STORY

A spokesman for Electronic Arts said the company has taken down the links to real-life weapons-makers.
