DALLAS -- CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of the Chuck E. Cheese's pizza-arcade chain, will pay $6,500 to settle a lawsuit filed in December by the family of an injured child, according to a story in the Southeast Texas Record.
In a complaint filed in Jefferson County District Court, Cassandra Diggles said her daughter fell and cut her head on the sharp edge of a ride at a CEC pizza-arcade in Beaumont, TX, in January 2009. The lawsuit contends that CEC should have posted warnings about the risks if parents allow their children to play unattended.
CEC initially responded to the suit by asserting that Diggles was negligent in the incident because she "failed to exercise ordinary care."
