SANTA ROSA, CA – The paleo diet is the latest fad and the new PaleoExpress vending machine is capitalizing on its popularity. The refrigerated PaleoExpress vender is merchandised with a paleo-friendly menu of prepackaged foods that include grass fed meats, organic grain-free granolas and bars, sweet potato and apple purees and protein and recovery drinks. All products are minimally processed and contain no preservatives.
The paleo diet -- also known as the "caveman diet" -- recommends eating as ancient hunter-gatherers did. It emphasizes lean animal proteins, vegetables and fruits, and excludes sugar, dairy, grains, starches and processed foods.
"We are beyond excited to offer this source of nourishment to on-the-go athletes, paleotarians, and those in the general public who are nutritionally conscious," said Alex Palm, one of the founders of PaleoExpress.
PaleoExpress describes its business model as a nationwide profit-sharing "partners program" through which locations receive a machine and products free of charge. Sales are tracked in a real-time cloud database for fast and fresh replenishment shipments from Paleo Express's warehouse.
PaleoExpress, based in Santa Rosa, CA, has reportedly installed its first machines in fitness facilities and is targeting expansion into airports, universities and other high traffic locations. The company's website shows an image of a branded glassfront machine, but does not provide specifications for it.
