AMI Entertainment, Megatouch

BRISTOL, PA -- The Megatouch games division of AMI Entertainment is uploading 28 Megatouch Classic games and seven new Tournamaxx Classics to ML-1 countertop videogame terminals. The latest software version, designated v2.4, brings together games for operator-organized tournaments that run on the Megatouch Live network.

The company reported that the Megatouch Classics upgrade is a response to player demand and operator requests. It includes a number of the line's most popular titles like Card Bandits, Lucky 11's and World Dojo, all under the Megatouch Classic banner.

The Megatouch Classic project was undertaken for reasons ranging from players' "sometimes slow adaptation to change" to the benefit to fans of competitive play, who can practice for Tournamaxx Classic tournaments on any piece of Megatouch hardware, according to AMI Entertainment. The technical effort involved in bringing the Classics together with newer, cutting-edge titles demonstrates the versatility of the ML-1 countertop, the company emphasized.

"There is natural familiarity with our classic Megatouch games, and players [don't] want to give that up right away," said Bill Layne, director of products and marketing for AMI's Megatouch division. "Now, once they are in front of the ML-1, they'll have a built-in comfort level, and will feel more confident experimenting with the graphics, challenges and more progressive gameplay that Megatouch Live has to offer."

The ML-1 touchscreen terminal was introduced last October with 39 games. In the 10 months since that debut, Megatouch has added 47 more game titles for a grand total of 86 -- and now 28 of those games are playable in their classic forms and support Tournamaxx Classic.

"Being able to add that many quality games this quickly really speaks to the technological leap forward we took with the ML-1," said Brennan McTernan, Megatouch division president. "We've streamlined the process, which allows us to deliver both an innovative and classic gameplay experience on the same piece of hardware. The ML-1 is the best of both worlds."
