DS Waters said it designed the facility to create greater flow and efficiencies of the refurbishment process across a wider number of SKUs. New machinery and advanced tooling equipment will improve the remanufacturing process of brewed beverage equipment, according to the company.
DS Waters said 24 associates have joined the 31 employees who recently relocated to the service center, bringing the New Orleans team to a total of 150 associates at this branch. The remanufacturing team is led by Glenn Blackwell, a 32-year veteran of Standard.
"Integrating the remanufacturing team with our other brewed beverage, water filtration and bottled water teams makes sense financially and brings everyone together," states Tom Harrington, president and chief executive of DS Waters.
Separately, DS Waters announced that it has acquired K&K Bottled Water Co. in Sulphur, LA. Customers in the city of Lake Charles and surrounding parishes can now order office coffee and other allied products along with their water delivery. They can also manage their account and delivery schedule online.
K&K Enterprises will continue to offer water-softening services from its Jennings, LA, office.
DS Waters, headquartered in Atlanta, delivers bottled water to more than 1 million home, office and retail locations in the U.S. Its brands include Alhambra, Belmont Springs, Crystal Springs, Mount Olympus, Sierra Springs and Sparkletts.
